Alice Pizza

For expertly executed crispy thin-crust pizza, head to Wan Chai’s hot new Alice Pizza. This is the first Asian outpost of the famed Roman pan pizza specialist, hailed as one of Italy’s best pizza chains. Pies here are baked in large, rectangular tins, sliced to order and sold by weight. The menu covers classic flavours and more innovative creations such as Carbonara, Truffle and Salmone. Be sure to leave room for some Nutella Pizza!

LUMA

The latest venture from LUBUDS Group, LUMA, goes beyond being a one-trick dining destination and aims to become the premier stage for spotlighting the best in Hong Kong’s F&B scene. Expect immersive experiences and collaborative tasting menus from the city’s top talents. Kicking off the inaugural programme is a tasting menu collaboration with two-Michelin-starred chef Bjoern Alexander Panek (previously of Octavium), available until the end of September.

Bistro La Baie

A new modern French bistro by the name of Bistro La Baie has opened along the Tseung Kwan O Promenade, with Chef Devon Hou (previously of Amber, L’Atelier de Joël Robuchon and TATE Dining Room) at the helm. Set against the backdrop of the glistening waterfront, delight in quintessential bistro fare, including the Seafood Platter, Angus Beef Tartare, Roast Bone Marrow with Escargot, and Chef Devon’s signature 9-Hour Slow-Roasted Beef Chuck.

Penna

Following the successful openings of Pano and Pleka, local celebrity chef Ken Lau completes the trifecta with the launch of Penna. Offering hearty, home-style Italian dishes, Penna’s menu draws from time-honoured family recipes spanning Deep-Fried Beef Tripe to Lobster Ricotta Cheese Ravioli and Confit Duck Leg Risotto. Pay a visit during the day to try out the value-for-money lunch set, starting at $168.

KEW+

Another floral-themed concept, this time inspired by London’s Kew Royal Botanic Garden. The 7,000 sq. ft. space comprises an indoor dining area, where diners can enjoy a multi-cuisine mix of Japanese bento boxes, Chinese dim sum and Western grilled delicacies, and an outdoor dining area that’s perfect for a refreshing cocktail or fruit tea. Tomacado

Established in 2015 with 12 branches across mainland China, Tomacado makes its first appearance in Hong Kong with flair. Its Chinese name combines the words for “flower” and “kitchen”, reflecting the restaurant’s trademark fusion of floral art and dining. The Hong Kong flagship draws inspiration from the bauhinia flower and magnolia, featuring striking paper art installations by Dezhi Zhang aka Mr. Anan, and plates up artistic Western-style dishes, incorporating elements of Chinese, Japanese and Southeast Asian cuisine.

Our favourite purveyors of kathi rolls to-go, Bengal Brothers, has reopened in Wan Chai as a full-fledged boozy canteen, complete with dine-in seating. Now you can sit back, relax and chow down on authentic street fare (think chaats, beer bites, small plates, curries, roasts and sweets – all made for sharing). Now open for public reservation, this modern eight-seat Kappo-style omakase concept was previously only open to VIP members. Spearheading the restaurant is Hokkaido-born Head Chef Takashi Hasegawa, who demonstrates his mastery of the knife and grill with a chef’s choice menu featuring fresh ingredients flown in daily.
